Although stone- and khaki-hued chinos are undoubtedly a sartorial staple, their navy-coloured cousins deserve a place in every man's wardrobe too. In many ways they're the perfect halfway point between regular chinos and jeans: airy enough to wear in summer, easy to dress up or dress down, yet in a deep shade of blue for when summer leads into autumn. And on a purely practical note, when a small child rushes to greet you holding a chocolate biscuit in their outstretched hand, you needn't recoil in quite such horror as a man wearing a pair of pale trousers might. Navy chinos seem a little more rugged than those in neutral shades, although they're equally easy to smarten up with a shirt, woven tie and blazer should a greater degree of formality be required. Watch the video, above, to see MR PORTER's Style Director, Mr Dan May, run through five ways to wear these versatile trousers, or read on to find out more.
