- Words by Mr Henry Farrar-Hockley
Despite considering myself an old-fashioned romantic, I have to confess to harbouring a degree of contempt towards Valentine's Day. Maybe it's the implication that love should only blossom once a year, or the outdated pastime of anonymously sending puppy-eyed greetings cards to relative strangers (one word: Tinder).
Either way, I've come to the conclusion that this annual paean to all things amorous is the ideal opportunity to enjoy a self-indulgent night in - far away from the overpriced roses and the Cupid-themed set menus - with the person you truly love the most: yourself.
