- Words by Mr Chris Elvidge, Senior Copywriter, MR PORTER
This spring, we're taking 20th-century minimalist architect Mr Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's oft-quoted maxim, "less is more", and applying it, without a trace of irony, to our sneaker collection. This means cutting back on the big, the bold and the brash, and embracing a clean approach instead. These sneakers will go with just about anything: it's the shoe equivalent of buying everything in black. What's more, their unembellished looks tend to be immune to fads and fashions, meaning that you could theoretically wear them for years - if you can keep them clean, that is. We've handpicked six of our favourite styles; click through the gallery, above, to see them all. And while you're contemplating our selection, it may be of use to consider the words of Mr Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, who said that "perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away".
