As Ms Dorothy Parker once said, "Men seldom make passes at girls who wear glasses." But what about the romantic lives of those who are willing to look at the world in a new way? Google Glass may look a little strange now and invite upon the wearer such jealous remarks as, "Are you in a Devo cover band?" But the Glassholes among us (sorry, we couldn't resist) will undoubtedly have the last laugh.

The time it takes for a new technology to pass from geek to gorgeous is usually about four years. After all, it was only four years ago when Apple introduced the iPad, and the snarkier Luddites among us said things such as, "I already have a laptop and a smartphone. Why would I need another device?" Now tablets comfortably outsell laptops.

Ever on the front foot, MR PORTER is proud to be the first retail partner for Google Glass. Available in the US in a choice of three titanium frames, each coming with a sunshade, single earbud and a case.

But what exactly can these smart glasses do? To help explain, we shot a day-in-the-life film of a New Yorker as if viewed through the lens of Google Glass.

Without giving too much away, keep your eye on the flowers. And look out for a sartorial cameo. In short, it's a man making a pass at a girl while wearing Google Glass.
