"Men in Berlin are cool," says 22-year-old Frenchman Mr Paul Ferens, who recently moved to Berlin to study. "They care about their style but it's more natural than in Paris where I come from. Here, it's not about what you wear but how you wear it."
While the cold winters and warm summers have given Berliners an understated practical edge to their wardrobes, they are certainly not afraid to experiment. "Things have changed in the past 20 years," explains Mr Sebastian Richter, a buyer for a local fashion firm. "If you'd come to Berlin in the early 1990s, there was nothing about fashion. It was all grey and dark. Now everyone is trying to dress up." And what of the beloved socks-and-sandals combination the German population have become so (in)famous for? "Things have moved on, thankfully," adds Mr Richter. Watch the film above to find out just how much.
