Based in London, Mr Collins founded the award-winning David Collins Studio, which is made up of architects and designers specialising in luxury residential and commercial projects (clients include Ritz-Carlton, Alexander McQueen and The Wolseley). He is also known for his sharp personal style and is a frequent visitor to Ibiza. "I go to Ibiza a few times during the year," he says. "I prefer to go towards the end of May and the beginning of June or otherwise in mid-September. In June the weather is beautiful and the evenings are cool, which I prefer, and it's similar in September. At these times the streets are also less crowded and the beaches are more chilled.
"During my trips to Ibiza I've learnt not to travel lightly. It's not necessarily important to bring a large variety of items, but it's worth bringing things in quantity since you can easily get through three or four T-shirts in one day. You should also bring clothes that you feel comfortable in, should the day take an unexpected turn - breakfast in Ibiza can easily turn into cocktails on the beach and then dinner, without time to change. Each time I have packed anything 'fancy' to wear, it has remained in the suitcase for the duration of my trip."
