Designers have a long history of drawing inspiration from the art world - take Mr Yves Saint Laurent, for instance, who mimicked the work of Mr Piet Mondrian to create his iconic 1960s Mondrian dress, or Mr Raf Simons, who applied the designs of Mr Pablo Picasso to a recent knitwear collection for Jil Sander.
