Twice each year the world's menswear industry descends on the Pitti Uomo trade show in the Tuscan city of Florence. Once there the sharply dressed retailers, vendors and journalists buy, sell, promote themselves, meet, talk, drink coffee and smoke cigarettes. All of these activities, however, are subordinated to the task of attracting the attention of the street-style photographers.
The headline news from Pitti is that it's business as usual: the silhouette remains slim and short, and the prevailing look remains a sort of ADHD version of classic menswear. As a result the MR PORTER cameras focused on the details, in order to record how men used socks, scarves, bags, pocket squares and umbrellas to distinguish themselves.
