New Graphic T-shirts You Should Wear This Summer

The tees to make a statement this season.

Funny, isn’t it, how a garment can outgrow its original purpose. Take T-shirts, for instance. Reappropriated from long johns and traditionally worn only as undershirts (and lumped into the same category as underpants and socks), they evolved into what we know as a crew neck, and are now often worn with nothing over the top at all. Imagine! Our ancestors from the 19th century would have kittens could they see that half of the MR PORTER office turn up for work in nothing but their undergarments.

Blame the good weather. Also, blame the good T-shirts, more of which have landed on site today. In the case of the selection of T-shirts we’ve picked out below, well, they weren’t exactly designed to be hidden beneath a sweater or a shirt. That’s not to say they carry loud statements – you won’t find shouty slogans or vividly bright prints here. Instead, this batch of summer T-shirts are all about stripes, architectural shapes and subtle washes of colour, namely pink and red. The warm hues are juxtaposed next to blacks and whites – the softness of the colour works to temper the monochrome, making for a versatile selection of tees that will work with anything from navy shorts to black jeans. So, from easy-to-wear graphic tees from Folk and Saturdays NYC, to monochrome and pink from Norse Projects and Alexander McQueen, upgrade your summer tee selection with the below. And, in another 200 years when people really do start turning up to the office in their underwear, don’t be surprised. We have it on good authority that codpieces will be very spring/summer 2218.
