At a wafer-like 4.3mm, Piaget's 'Altiplano Ultimate' is one of the world's thinnest automatic watches (its world record broken by its own kind, of course). It's all down to the groundbreaking 910P calibre – its gold, black-coated rotor spinning circumferentially rather than on top, plus an ingenious case structure, whose inner rear surface doubles as baseplate for all 219 components. The skeletonised dial, while a product of practicality, is virtuoso engineering and design in one fell swoop.
