Though Panerai's 'Luminor' watch dates back to the 1950s, it wasn't until the early 1990s that it became available to the public, up until then it was supplied only to the Royal Italian Navy. Now it's one of the horologer's most sought-after models, named after the brand’s non-radioactive luminous paint and typified by its other significant patent: the levered ‘tight seal’ crown device. The polished stainless steel cushion case houses the brand's P.6000 calibre hand-wound movement, which is made in-house at its Neuchâtel-based workshop and packs a three-day punch of precision.
