If you needed convincing that the Canadian tuxedo is well and truly back, look no further than A$AP Rocky, who recently stepped out in one of the most stylish double-denim looks this side of Mr Justin Timberlake. He takes a mix-and-match approach to his look, pairing two subtly different washes of denim in the jacket and jeans, and breaking them up with a plain white tee. He’s accessorised with a cap that fits into the colour scheme along with a classic Gucci holdall (or is that a baby bag?) and finished it off with a pair of green leather lug boots. Trust Rocky to show exactly how to tap into the cowboy trend without going full cosplay.

From the assortment of Bottega Veneta bags to a vintage Mr James Dean baseball cap that he’s been favouring, Mr Jacob Elordi knows his way around accessories. For his appearance on the Today show this month, he’s opted for a more alternative accessory: Mr WH Auden's Selected Poems (perhaps a nod to his new role in Saltburn). With his huge overcoat, blue jeans, Derby shoes, chunky aviators and poetry collection, he’s giving us major Hot Man Autumn vibes for the start of coat season. It’s cosy, cool and cultured.

Would this very simple look, worn here by Mr Robbie Arnett be as good without the matching spouse (Ms Elizabeth Olsen)? Perhaps not, and yet we stan a minimal cool king. The colour on these jeans is a perfect retro light wash, the jacket has a distinctly worn in feel (and distinctive pockets) and there was simply no choice other than a white tee. You don’t always have to try hard to be stylish, as evidenced here.

Some people were born to wear comfy knitwear. Whether it’s rocking up on The Graham Norton Show in that cream LOEWE cable knit or championing the work of young designers such as Stefan Cooke, the man loves a bit of wool. He wore this oversized sleeveless V-neck from Margaret Howell’s MHL sportswear line to the BFI London Film Festival for the premiere of Bonus Track, which he wrote and stars in. To prevent the whole fit from slipping into “substitute geography teacher” territory, he asserted his right to bare arms. Also note the subtle addition of some very laid-back adidas Handball Spezials in blue suede.

You may have seen British actor Mr Paapa Essiedu in Ms Michael Coel’s 2020 tour de force I May Destroy You. Or, more recently, in Black Mirror, Men or returning (and now returning) in time-travel TV series The Lazarus Project, which he is here to promote. Possibly you even encountered him on MR PORTER, or extolling the toothsomeness of his auntie’s red red dish on the Off Menu podcast. But you should certainly take note of his expert deployment of a cardigan, worn with an open shirt in blistering white and complementary breezy trousers. And knowing when to steer clear of delicious palm oil-based stews.

Contrary to what metal fans and Batman would have you believe, successfully pulling off an all-black ensemble requires skill. An outfit made up of just one colour can often end up looking, well, a bit boring. The different textures found in the leather aviator jacket, fuzzy shearling collar, knitted waistline and cuffs and cotton cargo trousers all help to add dimension and break up the outfit.
