The last time we saw Mr Tom Sturridge, when he had finally put some clothes on, he was wearing a lot of black. Much like other visionaries with weighty decisions to make, who rely on a set uniform to avoid diverting too much of their mental bandwidth to their wardrobes, his Morpheus had something of a look. Unlike those more mortal creatives, he also had an infinite realm to play with, but hey. Anyway, before he pops back up on your TV – and in your dreams – with the second season of The Sandman, here is the actor at the recent Vogue World extravaganza in London. And, rubbing our eyes, is that an embellished ensemble by Simone Rocha he’s sporting? As totems of power go, we’ll take it.

As autumn weather has become increasingly erratic – showers one day, sunshine the next – the way we dress through the season has shifted, too. As a result, we’ve entered the brief but glorious annual window where it’s appropriate to wear a sweater with shorts; otherwise known as the best outfit on almost any man. Here, the British musician Skepta ably demonstrates its appeal: a characterful and distinctive sweater up top (this one comes courtesy of Burberry), and a neatly cut pair of shorts below, to showcase a toned pair of calves. It’s one of those combinations that only makes sense when you try it: menswear’s equivalent to pineapple and pizza, if you will.

If you look up menswear designer Mr Charlie Casely-Hayford, you’ll quickly notice that he wears something of a uniform: a sleek suit, a collared shirt or tee, and a pair of chunky shoes. While attending Dunhill’s anniversary party in London, all his signatures are there, along with the just-so pocket square and watch. Sure, he might vary the details from time to time – like the double-breasted jacket here, or a windowpane check instead of navy or black – but there is a stylish consistency to his contemporary-meets-classic tailoring that always looks elegant. After all, why fix something when it isn’t broken?

The runways at London Fashion Week are decidedly different from those found at Heathrow Airport, but Mr Cole Sprouse’s choice in baggy dad-core duds are perfectly suited for both. The actor took a nonchalant approach to his front row appearance at the JW Anderson SS24 show, opting for a blue untucked Oxford shirt, big baggy denim, a contrast stitch blazer and a baseball cap to finish. His off-duty director uniform harkens back to the very best of the 1990s celebrity airport fashion. It’s a big fit, both in its sartorial success and its sizing. The actor will need to pay extra to bring his bags of style back with him on the flight home.

We love to see an actor in the wild dressed very differently than their on-screen character. See here, Mr Harry Lawtey, one of the stars of Industry looking like he wouldn’t be caught dead working for a stuffy financial institution. He’s wearing one of our favourite colour combinations – white, dark blue and brown – which is classic, clean and unfussy despite the print. When you’re feeling stuck in the morning, channel this vibe and you won’t go wrong.

Japanese dancer and actor Mr Mirai Moriyama has hopped on the oversized tailoring trend for the Venice Film Festival this year – which we’ve also seen on the likes of Messrs Jacob Elordi and Seth Rogen earlier this year. And in the vibe of a more wearable Mr David Byrne super suit, he’s making a bold, baggy statement. Our highlight? The little touch hint of yellow on his gradient loafers and his jewellery, which bring impart a nice glow to the dominant black of his double-breasted suit.

We already knew that the sweater vest was the wardrobe essential du jour, but Mr Otamere Guobadia – in attendance at Ahluwalia’s SS24 show at London Fashion Week – took the sleeveless knit to a whole new level. The British author, poet, and journalist paired an argyle-inspired style from the brand’s latest line-up with a pair of colour-block, tech-like trousers. This bold yet refined mismatch of textures and patterns was rounded off with a simple polo shirt and excellent use of jewellery – the sculptural earring is one of our highlights.
