CARTIER
Santos-Dumont Hand-Wound 33.9mm Extra Large Steel and Alligator Watch, Ref. No. WSSA0032
Back in 1904, Mr Louis Cartier was approached by his close friend and pioneering aviator, Mr Alberto Santos-Dumont to create an alternative to the traditional pocket watch - he wanted to be able to tell the time without taking his hands off the yoke mid-flight, and so the first pilot's timepiece was born. Staying true to the original model that was released well over a century ago, this 33.9mm variation has been crafted in the maison's workshop from polished stainless steel. It has a distinctive square case bordered by eight screws and is fitted with a supple alligator strap in the same navy hue as the cabochon that's affixed to the crown. Beneath the sapphire crystal glass, you'll find easy-to-read Roman numerals and blued steel sword-shaped hands, which are house signatures.
