Originally invented for military pilots, as their name suggests, bomber jackets work well with almost all casual outfits, while hinting at adrenaline and adventure. Cotton and nylon variants are always a solid choice, but this week we've decided to focus on their sophisticated leather and suede relatives, which combine the warmth and breathability of natural skins with a certain louche elegance. You can wear a leather or suede bomber jacket in winter with knitwear underneath, then continue wearing it into spring and beyond over a T-shirt or chambray shirt. Later in the season, we'll certainly be making like Mr Paul Newman (below) by wearing ours over a striped T-shirt with chinos and loafers. Click through the gallery, above, to see six of our favourite impeccably crafted examples.
