Pitti Uomo is a twice-yearly menswear trade fair in Florence, Italy. Thanks to the nature of the men who attend, the fact that they're all there to sell something and the huge popularity of street style photography, attending Pitti is now almost as much about dressing up for the cameras as it is about buying and selling clothes.
Super-lean tailoring, a barrage of prints, the fearless combination of casual and smart clothing and enough bracelets, tie bars, pocket squares, charms and chains to decorate a Christmas tree, define the Pitti look. This summer saw that look refined rather than changed, by guys so concerned with looking good that they were willing to wear jackets and ties in temperatures close on 40°C. It's not just women who have to suffer for style.
Oh, and just in case you're wondering what MR PORTER wears when the mercury's high, the answer is: a tan seersucker suit, white cotton shirt, brown grenadine tie, Cognac-coloured calfskin loafers and a wide-brimmed Panama hat. Elegance comes at a price.
