Exclusive To Us: The New Dries Van Noten Coat

22 August 2018

Marbled outerwear for autumn/winter 18.

Every so often in our What’s New upload, we like to highlight just one thing out of the hundreds of items launching on site that we find interesting. We can’t have everything, after all. And this week we welcome something exclusive to MR PORTER that has really caught our eye.

Dries Van Noten have launched some exclusive marbled print raincoats which featured at the finale of the men’s AW18 show. There were 50 unique designs on the runway in total, from which only 10 made the cut. The print is created using something called Ebru, which is a technique involving oil-based inks on a water surface which is transferred onto paper. The results are, well, rather interesting. Only 100 of these raincoats were made, and we were lucky enough to get our hands on some. And so could you.

Jazzy print aside, you could see this coat as quite a savvy style choice – entering as we are that tricky intersection between summer and autumn. It’s made from lightweight shell for starters – so you won’t be too warm – and yet the forest-green colour feels very autumnal.

But how to wear it? Don’t lose your marbles – keep it simple. Try some slim black jeans with a pair of white sneakers, and a long-sleeved grey T-shirt beneath…
