Three Ways To Wear White Jeans Beyond Summer.

White jeans always necessitate a touch more sartorial confidence than your average indigo-washed variety. But done right, they add a sharp and dazzling feel to your outfit and can also prove incredibly versatile. As the summer comes to a close, you might be tempted to pack your white away, but this would be missing out. There are plenty ways to wear them well into autumn, and even winter. Here, we’ve teamed white jeans with a dark blue T-shirt from Håndværk and a relaxed overshirt from Danish brand NN07, creating a strong contrast of colour between the upper and lower halves of the body, which helps to stop the overall effect being too washed out and summery. When it gets a bit colder, you could swap the cotton overshirt for a wool-blend variety from MP Massimo Piombo, or even this quilted camo example from J.Crew.

It’s good advice for any kind of denim-based outfit – avoid the boiler-suit effect by wearing jeans in a slightly different wash from your jacket. And it’s far more striking when the washes in question are white and a faded indigo, which creates a pleasing contrast, as in the example above. Stop it all becoming too clashy by adding in other items along the neutral (black/white/grey) and blue (navy/indigo/royal blue) axis. As it gets colder, you could opt for a denim jacket lined with shearling, such as this example from Fear of God.

The Italians love white jeans because they offer the perfect colour palette to offset the country’s sun-soaked climate. You can bring this Mediterranean look into the colder months by wearing your white jeans with warm-hued pieces in warmth-giving textiles, such as suede (as in this Ermenegildo Zegna jacket) and cashmere (as in this grey sweater from Scottish brand William Lockie).
