THE JOURNAL

The finest clothing to make you look and feel good – quite literally .
We like to think we’re not short of words here at MR PORTER. We know lots of small ones, a smattering of big ones, and probably more rude ones than is strictly necessary. We even know some in French (the rude ones especially). But if we were permitted to use only one to describe the new Berluti pieces landing on site today, it would be an entirely printable adjective that is solidly Anglo-Saxon (OK, entirely borrowed from the French): “tactile”.
You see, while the wares featured here certainly look good, the sense best employed to seriously appreciate them is touch. And by that we don’t mean just a tentative poke with a digit, but caressing, stroking and, yes, properly running your hands over them. Oh God. If anyone gets wind of what we’ve been up to in the downstairs fashion cupboard, we’re probably in trouble.
The list of materials showcased across the collection offers a sensory overload: a velvet tuxedo jacket with a contrasting pink silk lining; a dusty-pink cashmere rollneck sweater that gently nuzzles the chin; a suede trucker jacket with a hardy corduroy collar, ribbed for… let’s just stop there. Heck, there are even sweatpants constructed from a supple cashmere mix. Refined, yes, but as comforting when handled as high-stock paper freshly warmed by the photocopier. (HR will never trust us with office equipment again.)
And this being Berluti, the level of craftsmanship and attention to detail is staggering. In fact, it leaves us lost for words.
Cop a feel
