Staff Picks: What Our Global Head Of PR Wants This Week

Words by Mr Michael Krueger

13 March 2020

With spring in the air, and the latest fashion season on the proverbial digital sales floor, I’m looking to add new life into my closet – through colour, prints, and a few practical (and sumptuous) pieces that will no doubt become wardrobe staples.

01. The polo shirt

If, like me, you had posters of Mr Luke Perry on your childhood bedroom wall, you not only have a meta-nostalgia for 90210, but for a mid-century time of yore and a desire for straightforward, well-made classic menswear. This striped cotton polo from our own label Mr P. could easily be worn by a 1950s soda jerk, Dylan McKay, or yours truly in 2020.

02. The T-shirt

Like many of us in spring, I exit hibernation (and the indoor boxing and yoga studios) for exercise outdoors. Living in New York, I head to the Westside Highway for end-of-day runs as the sun goes down. This lightweight Cloud Merino wool T-shirt from French running label Satisfy looks plain cool and also provides the right level of warmth in the lead up to summer.

03. The shorts

Another sign of spring – lighter colours and fewer reasons to cover up. As soon as I’m out of the office (and without anywhere formal to go), I like to dress “free below the knee”. Although it’s vain to say, I’ve got nice gams, so I might as well pair them these popping-white, camp-inspired shorts from Holiday Boileau.

04. The bag

Less clothes also means less pockets and compartments. As the months begin to warm, I reintegrate satchels and side-body pouches into my life. They’re great for phone(s), wallet, keys and allergy medication. This is my way to fight the flower and pollen – a floral-print utility bag that stores all of my defences.

05. The hoodie

To me, layers aren’t so much a styling tool as a functional way to keep comfortable and warm. This luxurious spare and well-crafted cashmere hoodie from The Row is ideal for regular, long flights; a cover for spring nights in Montauk; and for just about any chic and cosy occasion... including a night on the couch.
