The most stylish destinations to visit this year.
We were a little short on holiday inspiration this week, so instead of asking advice from the echo chamber that is the MR PORTER office, we thought we would broaden our horizons a little and put the question of where to go on holiday this summer to the Style Council. Now, we could have asked all 120 members, but that would have given us a dizzying amount of destinations to pore over. So we decided to consult three men who are particularly in the know about travel and hospitality about where they intend to stay, and for their top travel tips. Wish you were there? Find out more below.

Where are you going on holiday?
I spend a few weeks every summer on Ibiza. I was introduced to the island by friends many years ago and I’ve managed to go back every year since then. Aside from the epic nightlife options, it has a deeply earthy quality. It’s extremely grounding.
Which hotel do you intend to stay in?
I stayed last year at a new place called La Granja Ibiza. It’s a former residence that’s been fashioned into an intimate bed and breakfast-cum-urban farming concept. The decor is beautiful and the stillness of the place is comforting. Oh, and the food is divine.
Do you have any good packing tips?
I pack almost as often as I tie my shoes so I need to keep it simple. And that begins with how I shop. I stock up on basics which I can easily combine. You can’t go wrong with a great pair of chinos in multiple colours, a solid pair of Oxfords in multiple colours, a cashmere pullover, mix-and-match socks, and good shoes. It’s all easy to pack and I still manage to have a sense of choice every morning when I get dressed.

Where are you going on holiday?
Island hopping in the secluded southern part of Myanmar. The waters are incredible and there are absolutely no tourists.
Where do you intend to stay?
On a boat.
What is your number one tip for a smooth flight?
A flat bed and a lot of wine!
And your packing tips?
Never check any luggage.

Where are you going on holiday?
We are in the process of buying a 500-year-old lamia just outside Cisternino, Puglia. Once the purchase is finalised we will fly over and start the restoration process of this barrel-vaulted, typical Pugliese building.
Are there any hotels you’re looking forward to staying in?
We will stay in Rome before flying to Brindisi in Puglia. In Rome we prefer the Fendi suites at Palazzo Fendi, Palazzo Manfredi which looks right onto the Colosseum, or the G-Rough hotel.
What is your number one tip for a smooth flight?
I have a routine of drinking less alcohol, stretching more and eating light to ensure I am healthy and nimble pre-flight – from Australia most flights are long haul (ie 18-plus hours to Europe, 12 hours to the US), which can really negatively affect your health. Also, zinc is great to supercharge your immune system pre-trip, and sugar-free Red Bull on day one keeps you awake late when you feel like sleeping at 4pm.
