Three Trends We’re Wearing This Season

Some seasons demand a full reset, others just ask for a little fine-tuning, as is the case for that tricky period between autumn and winter, when function (read: staying warm) begins to take centre stage. Here, we’ve rounded up three things we’re looking forward to trying out this season. They look good, but they’ll work even better once the cold sets in.

The quickest way to update your wardrobe for the next few months is to get a new jacket. It’s the single, most important item in your closet between now and next spring – and the first thing anyone sees when you walk in the room. Hence why it’s the investment that deserves the most thought. Now, blousons, chore jackets and bomber jackets made from tactile hides are nothing new, but they’re particularly big right now – don’t miss rich chocolate hues from TOM FORD, CELINE and ZEGNA.

When it’s cold and grey, you may as well do yourself a favour and liven things up – in the style department, at least. And this season’s knitwear provides plenty of opportunities to do just that. You can’t go wrong with the brand that has made colourful sweaters its calling card – The Elder Statesman. Shetland crew necks in bright pink, burgundy and off-white and green stripes come courtesy of our recent collaboration with Drake’s, while brands such as Jil Sander, Sacai and TOM FORD all offer up viable alternatives in equally fun shades.

Whether you’ve just rediscovered them thanks to the resurgence of preppy style, or whether they’ve long been a staple in your wardrobe, heritage checks are all over winter tailoring and outerwear options. Tweeds, houndstooth, Scottish gun club checks, tartans, glen checks, you name it – they are all present for autumn/winter. They may nod to old-school Savile Row tailors, but new-season iterations courtesy of Valentino Garavani, Our Legacy and Thom Browne make them as contemporary as they get.
