Introducing: The Mr P. Summer Collection

9 April 2018

The jackets, T-shirts and blazers you’ll wear all season.

We’re not ones to brag, or blow our own trumpet, or shout from the rooftops about how great we are, but… OK – we admit it. We are awful, shameless self-promoters. But, well, we cannot help being this way. Especially when we have our own brand (it’s called Mr P. if you didn’t already know). And especially when it is so, well, good. We wouldn’t have made these clothes if we didn’t believe in them. In how they are constructed, or the inspirations for their design. But we do. And, happily, since you’ve been enjoying the pieces we have launched on site so far, we thought we would launch some more. Welcome, then, to the Mr P. SS18 collection – the third launch from MR PORTER, designed and led by our maxim “easy pieces, smart details and enduring style”. The new collection is made up of 32 pieces, but below we picked out six of our favourite styles. We hope you like them as much as we do. What’s that? Did someone say “insufferable”?

Spring and summer months mean casting off your long wool overcoat and plumping for something a little shorter, lighter and brighter in the outerwear department. Which is where we, or rather our jackets, come in. If you’re in the market for something truly classic, something with a bit of texture and warmth, try the Western-inspired soft tan suede piece (which is unlined, making it super supple). If you want to make a bit more of a statement, give the bright-red waffle-knit bomber a go. Just don’t ask us to pick one – we’re thinking of buying both.

If you’d like to invest in Mr P. (and why on earth wouldn’t you?!), but don’t want to spend a huge amount, perhaps we could interest you in one of our T-shirts. Yes, we are well aware that we sound like a market trader hawking vegetables. But the sentiment is sincere. Go simple with the navy cotton-terry (an especially absorbent form of the material). Or jazz things up a bit with the Italian-knitted contrast red and white piqué polo. The choice is yours.

We were rather excited about the opportunity to introduce summer-friendly fabrics into the Mr P. range, and nothing says “warm-weather material” like seersucker. And it is especially relevant when you’re trying to remain smart in the heat. Which brings us rather nicely on to this blue striped blazer – made with the material favoured by such style icons as Mr Gregory Peck. Alternatively, try the navy cotton-twill jacket, which was made by the Mr P. design team with the aim to create something that could be dressed up or down. Wear it with the matching trousers, or a pair of jeans. The notch lapels and patch pockets ensure it will always have a relaxed feel.
