THE JOURNAL

All the kit you need to get outdoors and get exercising.
The sun’s out (in London, at least), which means a few things. Yes, everyone is immediately in a fantastic mood. Yes, you can drink as much as you like without being accused of excess. And yes, you can, nay, should wear slightly less clothing. Unless you are in shape (you insufferable Instagram addict, you), however, the warm weather can present a few anxieties for the less trim among us. Help is at hand. With plenty of active kit being uploaded on site today, there’s no excuse not to get down to the gym or your local park for a bit of exercise.
The sneakers
These might be tailormade for weightlifting and other gym pursuits, but they’re striking and sleek enough to keep you on your feet all day on the city streets. The all-black tone means they’ll work well with a minimal mochochrome look, but to play up their athleisure styling when out and about, wear them with some fresh white socks, such as these by Beams Plus.
The vest
At the other end of the spectrum is this vest, which, unless you are incredibly brave and dress like you’re exiting a club night in Berlin in the early 1990s, is made only for fitness. And, more specifically, we would suggest, running. If you want to get serious about such a pursuit, Tracksmith is a good brand to aid you. It was founded by runners, so it has your best interests at heart, and we particularly like the retro feel to its designs. If it gets cold after your marathon/10 minutes on the treadmill, throw on this zip-up top.
The shorts
If you want to get even more technical about your workout, these shorts might attract your attention. They have a built-in mesh lining for breathable support and a ventilated Flyvent waistband that offers comfort and security whether you’re lifting weights or running miles. No one likes a try-hard, though, so keep things simple on top with this T-shirt from adidas.
