When surgical masks were handed out by various brands across various venues during fashion weeks across Milan and Paris this season, many attendees might have assumed they were props for the show, given as brands are into “immersive experiences” and gimmicks at their runway presentations (one is reminded of a few seasons ago when A-Cold-Wall*’s show required attendees to wear science goggles and ear plugs). But the thinking behind them was real: multiple events were cancelled, and the growing threat of coronavirus cast a shadow on the week. Still, that didn’t stop those on the front row making an effort. From Mr Orlando Bloom to Messrs Mohammed Al Turki, Cameron Dallas and Dev Hynes, the trend, it seems, was to commit to what they call a “full look”. Here’s how it manifested…
01.
Mr Cameron Dallas’s Scarlet Letter
From the scarlet coat and rollneck to the crimson trousers, the great thing about Mr Dallas’s look is that, though it is undoubtedly all red, it has a variety of tones to add a bit of depth. No man should look like a postbox, after all.

Mr Orlando Bloom’s Beige Best Friend
If you’re wearing a beige suit, might as well go the whole hog – or should that be whole dog? Mr Bloom didn’t just complement the shade his suit with a similarly hued beige sweater, he also brought along a beige bundle of canine cuteness. Now that’s what call accessorising well.

Mr Dev Hynes’s Funereal Realness
Despite how polished it looks, this isn’t from a magazine editorial; it’s just Mr Dev Hynes aka Blood Orange being really cool at the Bottega Veneta show. Dressed all in black, from his boots to his leather coat, there’s a Blade-esque edge here that is nicely softened by his fluffy black hat.
