THE JOURNAL

A trio of on-trend camp-collar aloha shirts – and what to wear them with.
It’s almost like our What’s New upload is in perfect harmony with the weather. Just when we start to experience a bit of sun at the MR PORTER offices, a whole host of explicitly summery shirts arrive on site, vying for our attention. Perhaps it’s luck. Perhaps our buying team deserve a raise.
Anyway. Loud, vibrant yet super-light wearing – below, we selected three of our favourite print summer shirts new to MR PORTER this week, and how we’d like to style them. Scroll and shop your favourite, while stocks (and the sun) last!
SMOKIN'

Eagle-eyed readers of The Daily will note that we have already sung the praises of Rhude – in an article heralding its launch on site, and the lovely West Coast streetwear style it represents. But we were by no means among its first fans. The likes of A$AP Rocky, Mr Kendrick Lamar and Snoop Dogg got there before us. One of our favourite new pieces from the brand is this camp-collar shirt, printed as it is with wonderfully retro cigarette packets. You couldn’t get away with this on anything less than a bright, sunny day, so we expect you’ll be needing some linen shorts to accompany it.
BACK IN BLACK

Life is not all blue skies (unless, like the founders of Rhude, you live in LA) – so expect some dark clouds ahead. For such occasions, there is OrSlow, and this Japanese-made monochrome shirt, hand-scrawled with a charming illustration. Whether you’re wearing it because you don’t like to make too much of a scene, or the weather isn’t quite summery enough – some black jeans will be just the thing to go with it.
SAY IT WITH FLOWERS

Despite being decidedly floral, there is something unmistakably subtle about this soft cotton shirt by US brand RRL. Let’s just say: if you find Rhude’s print too loud, and OrSlow’s a bit dour, plump for this piece, which resides somewhere in the middle in terms of tone and colour. Should you need the extra layer – or you have a desire to break up the pattern – slip a white T-shirt on underneath. And there you have it: a look that’s as old as time.
