THE JOURNAL

The outfits to wear to stay cosy this winter.
Buying clothes is not all about a desire to improve your appearance. At this time of year, survival instincts set in and we look to our wardrobe mainly to protect ourselves from the elements. Winter is well and truly underway. Preparing to leave the house is starting to take on the form of a full-blown military mission – meaning that the temptation to cancel plans and stay in is at its most intense. So, rather appropriately, today we are looking at some new clothes which help us in our quest to avoid the cold.
New on site today are some silk-satin pyjamas from Zimmerli. For the days when even leaving your bed feels nigh on treacherous, make the most it in some positively luxurious bedwear. You may well balk at the price, but, given we spend about a third of our lifetime asleep (and even longer if you add the lie in), you begin to see the value of feeling like a king when you are spending time in a horizontal position.
Perhaps you have made it out of bed – to turn the heating up and assume a foetal position on the couch. Perhaps you are poorly and having a “sick day” after too much mulled wine the previous night. You’re going to need a hooded top, aren’t you? So try this thick cotton-jersey zip up hoodie by Mollusk. Job done.
Feeling ready to leave the house yet? Don’t worry, the hibernation needn’t end. Take a nest of warmth with you in the form of this Canada Goose down jacket. Its nylon is water- and wind- resistant, it has heat trapping ribbed trims, and it comes with soft fleece-lined pockets. Positively toasty.

Don’t leave home (or stay home) without one
