If you hadn’t noticed, it’s only 100 days until the Rio Olympics. We say only 100 days – that’s actually quite a long time. But not when you consider this momentous sporting occasion comes around but once every four years. And, anyway, #rio100 makes for a rather snappy social media hashtag. So we’re definitely allowed to shout about it. Now, we imagine not many of you will be competing in the Olympics. It’s more likely you will be competing to see how many caipirinhas you can down while watching the beach volleyball. But that doesn’t mean the upcoming sporting activity won’t inspire you to get in shape in the meantime. Even if it’s just to ensure you look good lying on the Copacabana. Running is the easiest way to get fit, whether you’re getting trim for a holiday or preparing for a competitive race. You may not be pitting yourself against Mr Usain Bolt in the 100m, but that 5k around the local park is still tough going, right? So you need the right gear. Beach volleyball – wahey, right? Unfortunately, this most aesthetically pleasing (and apparently fun) sport is less than accessible to those of us who live in damp/freezing/unattractive climates such as that of the UK.
