You’re never too young, or too old, to embark on an anti-ageing skincare regimen.
Showing your age? The skin on your face is probably the first thing to give you away, and those fine (or not so fine) lines are a cruel reminder of everything from how many pints you had last night to how many cigarettes you’ve sneaked in the past decade. Fortunately, saving your poor old time-weathered visage is possible. It just takes a little knowhow and a well-stocked bathroom cabinet.
Anti-ageing might sound like a category on its own, but these days dermatologists are engineering cosmetics to target the concerns of specific age groups. So, whether you need to bring in the big guns to turn back the clock or are simply looking for a little preventive TLC, here are the products that can help.
For the first signs of ageing
If you’re serious about keeping your youthful good looks for as long as possible, it’s a good idea to start using an anti-ageing product before the first signs of ageing have become properly noticeable. Sisley - Paris SisleYouth anti-ageing treatment has been specifically designed for younger faces, and the brand recommends using it from around age 25. It’s stuffed full of pea and soy peptides that will tone the skin and improve its texture, plus a smorgasbord of natural ingredients such as kiwi and ginseng to prevent skin getting stressed and fatigued, so those late nights you have when you’re young won’t show on your face when you’re not. Fortify things further with Future Rescue Repair serum from Lab Series.
For middle age
Don’t worry if you haven’t been anti-ageing since you were a wean. There’s plenty of stuff out there to freshen up that tired old visog. Dr Sebagh High Maintenance Cream is anything but. Just swap it out for your normal moisturiser and it’ll melt away the years and give you a smooth, matt complexion. If your skin is particularly dry and sensitive, go for M.E. Skin Lab Baume 27 Bio-Energizing Cell Repair Balm. It’s gentle, but effective, and will keep your skin sufficiently nourished, protected and youthful-looking.
The next best thing to a time machine
Oh dear. Your face has more lines than Bart Simpson’s blackboard. Where did that bright-eyed young chap go? When did he start looking like an extra from 28 Days Later? He’s under there somewhere, but you’ll need something heavy-duty to find him. 111Skin Celestial Black Diamond Cream is the gold standard in anti-ageing and is packed with innovative, cutting-edge ingredients, including black diamond particles, which act as microspheres to penetrate deeper into the skin. We also recommend Perricone MD Fx Deep Crease Serum to target deep, stubborn creases and bless you with a healthy glow.
