Five Of The Best Swiss Watches For Sports And Fitness
Words by Mr Chris Hall
13 January 2021
The world of luxury sports watches can be a confusing one, and contains many a watch that you’d never imagine wearing for anything physical. But there are Swiss watches that are still made to take a bit of punishment, and moreover will actually aid your quest to get out and do some exercise while that New Year motivation is still coursing through your veins. From smartwatches with comprehensive fitness tracking abilities to traditional timepieces built for use in all conditions, here are our five favourite watches for sport and fitness.
TAG Heuer Connected
Equipped with a full suite of health trackers and sensors, with GPS and Wi-Fi, the TAG Heuer Connected also has a number of bespoke fitness apps included. You can use it in conjunction with your phone for greater analysis of your workouts, and the modular construction makes it easy to swap straps.
Montblanc Summit 2+
The latest smartwatch from Montblanc has untethered it from your phone and added outdoorsy essentials like an altimeter, barometer, speedometer and an updated GPS module. All of which means it’s a little bigger than before, at 43.5mm, but crucially is that much better equipped to accompany you as you exercise.
Breitling Endurance Pro
Worn by world-record holding Ironman and triathlon champions Mr Jan Frodeno, Ms Daniela Ryf and Mr Chris McCormack, the Endurance Pro is cased in a proprietary material called Breitlight – tougher and lighter than titanium, it’s perfect for all condition training. The watch is powered by Breitling’s in-house “superquartz” calibre, accurate to +/- 10 seconds a year.
Oris Aquis Date Relief
Named for the relief etching on its bezel – rather than any sense of relaxation – this 43.5mm stainless-steel Aquis is the perfect no-nonsense watch for straightforward training or a more adventurous take on January fitness. Maybe you’re taking up climbing or open-water swimming? It’ll see you right either way.
Ulysse Nardin Diver Automatic Chronograph
It might look a bit flamboyant, but don’t let that fool you – the Diver Chronograph is a rock-solid watch. The lightweight titanium case means it won’t get in the way, while the rubber strap, indented bezel and screw-down pushers are designed for use in all conditions, so you won’t have any issues timing your Hiit routine, even if you are, shall we say, mildly perspiring.
