The virtual Golden Globes took place last night, which meant that many nominees and presenters attended from their homes. The broadcast therefore featured spouses, children (Minari director Mr Lee Isaac Chung accepted his award with his daughter in his arms), pets and a few technical mishaps, such as Mr Daniel Kaluuya’s muted acceptance speech.
It also featured some of the best fashion moments we’ve seen in months. We were treated to colourful palettes, pussy bows and wide lapels as attendees (with the possible exception of Mr Jason Sudeikis in a tie-dyed hoodie) went all out with their ensembles. It was almost as if they hadn’t dressed up for a while.
Is this a herald of a spring and summer filled with fun, colourful fashion? We hope so. See our nominees for best dressed, below.

Golden Globes ambassador Mr Jackson Lee takes after his father, the three-times nominated film director Mr Spike Lee, and has become an instant fashion icon in his full-Gucci attire. His regal emerald-green robe, the delicately tied pussy bow and the tight-tailored suit show a man with fine taste. He also gave a sweet nod to his father by sporting Mr Lee Sr’s signature bold-framed and tinted glasses throughout the night and a Time’s Up badge on his kimono-style robe.

Mr Dan Levy

Mr Dan Levy, star of Schitt’s Creek and one of MR PORTER’s Men Who Made A Difference In 2020, made quite an impression with his chartreuse ensemble by Valentino Couture (part of the first men’s haute couture collection by Valentino). Styled with a pair of wedged silver brogues and statement glasses, his outfit was like an opulent ray of sunshine.

Mr Jared Leto

Mr Jared Leto knows how to pull off a look. In his customary, but never conventional, Gucci uniform, he gave us a louche 1970s vibe with his finely flared beige suit, grey silk shirt and peach flower brooch on his lapel. He pulled it all together with his signature Jesus-like mane. A style icon indeed.

Nominee for Best Original Song and Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for One Night In Miami, Mr Leslie Odom Jr’s buttonless and peaked lapel pink suit by Valentino Couture, paired with a green rollneck and pale-pink shirt, brought a smart-casual finesse to the virtual red carpet and a modern twist on the 1970s suit.
