THE JOURNAL

Springtime comes with a host of sartorial dilemmas. From the uncertain weather that demands a versatile approach to attire – “is it a chunky sweater day or a lightweight jacket day?” – to choosing colours that conceal the fact that we haven’t seen the sun in months, dressing in this season is far from easy.
But we’ve got some good news. For one, spring is almost over, which means that, very soon, we’ll be dressing for the season we want, rather than for the one we have. For another, we’ve combed through the latest collections and picked four brands – Bottega Veneta, LOEWE, SAINT LAURENT and Gucci – whose latest line-ups are sure set you up for a stylish summer. Feeling inspired? Just keep scrolling.
01.
Bottega Veneta

In the hands of Bottega Veneta, the everyday jeans and T-shirt combination is anything but every day. This casual get-up will take you just about anywhere this summer. The first rule here is to choose jeans with a more generous silhouette – head here for some style inspiration. Rule number two? Elevate your outfit with a few carefully chosen accessories, such as one of the brand’s signature Intrecciato bags or a pair of its big-statement boots.
02.
LOEWE

Having a lightweight jacket to hand is always a good idea, and it’s an even better one when said jacket is made by Spanish luxury powerhouse LOEWE. Springtime calls for smart fabric choices – cotton-canvas, jerseys and other lightweight materials – and bold footwear solutions, something creative director Mr Jonathan Anderson is well-versed in. Try the label’s latest grass-inspired sneakers, designed in collaboration with Spanish bio-designer Ms Paula Ulargui Escalona.
03.
SAINT LAURENT

Got an event on the cards? Or just looking for any excuse to get dressed up? SAINT LAURENT’s latest collection is just the thing to step out in style. Opt for a light and airy silk-chiffon shirt and keep the summery theme going with your choice of footwear: we’ve rounded off the look with a pair of the brand’s sandals, sunglasses and a shell messenger bag.
04.
Gucci

Inspired by vintage military uniforms, Gucci’s tweed jacket is just the thing to smarten up and elevate your everyday looks. We’ve styled it over a bow-tie shirt, the house’s monogrammed shorts, and a pair of tasselled loafers. However, if the occasion requires a more formal approach, just dress it up with smart trousers and boots.
