Seven Shoes That Will See You Through Spring – And Right Into Summer

Whether you’re planning a getaway, have a wedding coming up or just simply need a wardrobe reboot, spring is a great time to invest in a pair (or two) of new shoes. They don’t say “put a spring in your step” for nothing, after all. Here are our recommendations – seven pairs from the likes of SAINT LAURENT, Gucci and more of our favourite brands – that will see you through this season and beyond.

01.

The SAINT LAURENT logo sandals

Nothing says summer quite like a pair of sandals, and these by SAINT LAURENT have got to be some of our favourites for a couple of reasons. They’re slim and low-key, and they’re the kind of versatile pair that can be worn with relaxed tailoring or a tee chinos, depending on the occasion.

02.

The elevated Bottega Veneta slides

Bottega Veneta’s rubber slides needn’t be reserved for pool time – they’ll look just as good with swim shorts as they do with a pair of baggy trousers and a casual shirt. The strips of rubber are woven together to nod to the house’s signature leatherwork technique, intrecciato.

03.

The classic Gucci loafers

If the motto “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” was a pair of shoes, there’s every chance it would look like Gucci’s loafers – the label first introduced them in 1953 and their timeless design has remained largely unvaried since. This chocolate-hued pair is embellished with the label’s equestrian-inspired horsebit.

04.

The refined Officine Creative espadrilles

Got a holiday on the cards? If sandals aren’t for you and sneakers just won’t do, why not try a pair of espadrilles? Officine Creative’s take on the Catalan classic are designed with traditional apron-stitched toecaps and set on flexible jute and rubber outsoles that make them comfortable for city tours and leisurely strolls alike.

05.

The Common Projects everyday sneakers

The first rule when packing for a vacation is not to overdo it and a pair of everyday sneakers that you can wear with anything is sure to help. You can’t go wrong with the basketball-inspired Decades from Common Projects, the latest low-key sneaker model from the flagbearer for minimalist design.

06.

The understated Manolo Blahnik mules

If your summer show game sits on the classic side, Manolo Blahnik’s leather mules make a welcome alternative to classic loafers. The padded insoles are designed to keep you comfortable, even if you’re wearing them from day into evening.

07.

The Row’s reworked fisherman sandals

Inspired by classic styles, The Row’s sandals are as luxe as fisherman sandals could ever get. The supple, charcoal suede they’re crafted from will add an element of depth and texture to your go-to holiday outfits.
