The Brightest And Best: 20 Ways To Wear Jewellery This Summer

When the weather requires us to wear less and go out more, finding the fun in dressing up becomes difficult. It’s here that jewelleryrings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings and even anklets – comes into its own as a way of adding a touch of personality to any outfit.

Our new campaign, Bright Future, is all about the fun you can have with luxury watches and fine jewellery. It throws a spotlight on established and up-and-coming makers such as KOLOURS JEWLRY, Lauren Rubinski, Suzanne Kalan and Jacquie Aiche. We’ve selected 20 of our favourite pieces to work into your summer wardrobe.

Bringing a much-needed dose of playfulness and colour to the sometimes austere world of fine jewellery, Carolina Bucci’s Forte collection is inspired by the strung necklaces and bracelets you might recall making as a child. With a rainbow array of semi-precious stones on a sturdy cord finished with blackened-gold tips, this bracelet is a great entry point to the brand.

Love earrings but don’t want to commit to a piercing? Yvonne Léon’s ear cuff is for you. The neon-green enamel, gold accents and grey diamonds will pack a stylish punch. If you’re feeling adventurous, try stacking it next to a few other styles.

If you’re looking for a special little something for yourself or a loved one, consider Sydney Evan’s bracelet. Made from deep-blue lapis lazuli beads, it’s strung with a sapphire-encrusted hamsa charm, which is said to protect the wearer from evil and bring goodness, luck and positivity.

Carolina Bucci’s Forte beads make a great statement necklace, too. Wearing one such as this over a white T-shirt or shirt is a great way to add a pop of colour. You are free to mix up the order of the beads or even add new ones, if you want to personalise your style further.

EÉRA contrasts the sturdiness of industrial design with the luxury of fine jewellery and reimagines everyday objects such as carabiners, nuts and padlocks in precious materials and eye-popping neon colours. This Tokyo earring, inspired by a snap hook found in a Japanese market, is one of its most popular pieces.

Foundrae makes jewellery with a mythical twist, drawing inspiration from classical symbols of astrology. This 18-carat gold and enamel ring is meant to protect you – hence the word “Protection” – from negative thoughts and feelings. It is made using an ancient enamelling technique called champlevé, so you can feel cool and classic when you wear it.

Hammered gold and a nice big hunk of malachite make for a cool statement piece. Elhanati’s signature organic style is at play here and it’s the perfect thing to make part of your everyday look. We love how this ring shares DNA with the signet style. Why not make this piece something you pass down through the generations?

Foundrae is a master at working with symbols and this golden earring, decorated with a tiny lucky horseshoe charm, is a perfect example. Horseshoes are usually punctured with holes, but (as luck would have it) this one has been festooned with diamonds instead.

An anklet isn’t the obvious choice for a man who wants to expand his jewellery collection, but perhaps it should be. Decorated with a spectrum of opal beads that look like a California sunrise in summer, this one by Jacquie Aiche will have you looking well put together. From the knees down, anyway.

A tennis bracelet is one of the simplest but most impactful pieces of jewellery you can wear. It is characterised by an uninterrupted string of glistering diamonds. This one, from the Norway-based house KOLOURS JEWELRY, is a fine example. Wear it when you want to make a dazzling first impression.

Need a little something to put a smile on your face? How about this white gold and diamond earring from Italian jewellery design house EÉRA? This earring is for pierced ears, but we can’t think of an item that makes a better argument for taking the plunge and adding another hole to your body.

Crafted by KOLOURS JEWELRY, this hexagon gold diamond necklace manages to appear sophisticated, luxurious and personal all at the same time. Something the recipient will appreciate even more than the financial outlay (even if that person is you).

Lauren Rubinski employs Italian artisans and goldsmiths to craft its jewellery. Much like this eye-catching yellow and white gold enamel pendant necklace, the brand is also inspired by the concept of heirlooms. This piece looks pleasingly like it has been pre-loved, but you can rely on its quality and hand it down yourself at some point.

If you’re looking for something a little more contemporary and esoteric, MAOR, inspired by “the cosmos”, produces mini sculptures from precious metals and stones and names them after planetary themes. This multi-stone bracelet is no different – unless you’re talking about its iridescent, colourful appearance, which is nothing if not unique.

As we reported last year, the trend for pearls is now firmly fixed in modern menswear. Spotting a string of them isn’t as rare as, say, retrieving a naturally occurring iridescent stone from a mollusc. Which means it pays to stand out, which this necklace with its contrasting gold chain certainly does.

What statement, exactly, is this piece trying to make? Well, given that it is called My Move and it comes in orange, it is definitely a power play. A sleek strap that wraps around the wearer’s wrist, it comes inlaid with a single diamond, which glides freely when worn. Which is more than can be said about passers-by, who will be transfixed.

This black gold bracelet is striking. Certainly in this form, a chunky 18-carat chain hand-cast with ceramics by the Californian jeweller SHAY, it is a formidable piece. Encrusted with diamonds and tonal-blue sapphires, this exquisite bracelet is something to behold.

Spinelli Kilcollin’s designs are inspired by its founder Mr Yves Spinelli’s love for minimal and architectural lines. This two-band white-gold ring is held together by contrasting rose-gold connectors. The harmony of opposites, if you will.

Could you do with some extra luck? Strung with a diamond-encrusted horseshoe, Sydney Evan’s beaded bracelet is intended to do just that. It makes for a perfect gift, too.

If you are not yet a jewellery guy, we recommend your start with something relatively simple, such as Yvonne Léon’s necklace. The gold accents contrast beautifully with the turquoise enamel, while the dazzling grey diamonds add an extra point of interest.
