Mr Jonathan Anderson, who’s been at the helm of storied Spanish house LOEWE since 2013, did not let the pandemic squelch his creative output. In fact, as we cautiously step out of the danger zone, he’s part of a group of designers, brands and creatives who are ready to celebrate euphoria, freedom and togetherness again.

The Irish designer enlisted his long-time collaborator Mr David Sims to shoot LOEWE’s SS22 collection, which was then presented as a set of books, one containing Sims’ images and one which features the work of German artist Mr Florian Krewer. The lineup – inspired by the joy of nightlife and the freedom of club culture – is filled with high-octane hues, dance floor-ready cut-out pieces and sportswear-inspired silhouettes, all of which convey a sense of electrifying optimism for the future.

Here are some of our favourite pieces (plus the highlights from LOEWE’s annual joint collection with Paula’s Ibiza) for a much-needed dose of escapism.

The trippy cardigan

The jacquard pattern on this cardigan may seem abstract at first, but take a closer look and you’ll notice it’s made up of human bodies in all kinds of positions. It’s knitted for a substantial handle and detailed with a zip closure that sets it apart from classic buttoned styles.

The neon hoodie

In line with the joyful spirit of the collection, its colour palette features an explosion of neons and saturated shades – the bright-orange hue of this hoodie is a great example. It’s made from cotton-jersey and features the house’s famous monogram, which was designed by Spanish artist Mr Vicente Vela back in the 1970s.

The dégradé denim jeans

Nothing says “freedom” quite like dip-dyed jeans. This pair by LOEWE comes courtesy of the house’s annual collaboration with Ibiza’s iconic boutique Paula’s – wear yours with a relaxed shirt on your next holiday.

The commute companion

LOEWE’s tote bag is a welcome alternative to classic briefcases. Made from canvas trimmed with supple hide, it has a roomy main compartment that’s spacious enough to hold all your work-week essentials.

The holiday essential

Jonathan Anderson’s fascination with Ibiza dates back to his childhood, when he used to visit the Balearic island with his parents. So he couldn’t choose a more appropriate collaborator than the White Isle’s very own fixture Paula’s. Part of their joint collection, this bucket hat is made from sturdy cotton-canvas that won’t crinkle when packed away in your luggage.
