Mood-Boosting Jewellery To Brighten Up January
Words by Emma Pradella
16 January 2023

We are only halfway through January, a month of dire weather, dark mornings and daunting new year’s resolutions. Just in case your glumness levels are not high (or should that be low) enough, today is Blue Monday, supposedly the most depressing day of the year. Despite scientists dismissing the credibility of the equation used to decide upon this date, it is safe to say that we could all do with a little cheering up. If happiness comes in small packages, some cheery jewellery could be the perfect way to boost your wardrobe and your mood. Here are five feel-good pieces (plus some handy styling tips from our Luxury Watches and Fine Jewellery Senior Buyer, Mr Maxim De Turckheim) to brighten up your day.

01.
The Foundrae charm bracelet
You will be hard pushed to find anything more fitting for Blue Monday than Foundrae’s bracelet. Its diamond-embellished Butterfly Disk charm is symbolic of daydreaming and joy. “I always advise newbies to go for a great gold chain bracelet because it is versatile and never needs to be taken off,” De Turckheim says. “Play around with extra bracelets in a similar style or a beautiful single-stone pendant.”

02.
The 42 SUNS statement ring
“The easiest way for men to experiment is with coloured stones,” De Turckheim says. “Emeralds, pink sapphires, topaz, citrine and amethyst are all easy, fun colours that can be integrated into your wardrobe.” If you are a fan of bold gemstones, 42 SUNS has you spoilt for choice. Take this 14-carat white gold and pink sapphire signet ring as proof.

03.
The Lauren Rubinski pendant necklace
Lauren Rubinski’s necklace – strung with a smiley face pendant – is for anyone who takes mood boosting in its literal sense. “Short necklaces are great to layer with longer chains,” De Turckheim says. “These should sit just below the collar bone. Add a fun charm or emoji for maximum impact.”

04.
The Annoushka cowboy boot earring
“For those with more confidence, I would definitely recommend a statement earring,” De Turckheim says. “Start with a simple gold hoop and then invest in fun pendants you can add to it.” We suggest this playful Annoushka cowboy boot pendant. Wear with TOM FORD’s Western jacket to stay on message.

05.
The EÉRA anklet
An anklet may not be the first accessory that comes to mind in January, but it is a more understated way to incorporate jewellery into your outfits. EÉRA’s turquoise ankle bracelet is guaranteed to raise a smile. “We recommend wearing it with no socks and cropped trousers,” De Turckheim says. Dress for the weather you want, we say.
