Staff Picks: What Our Personal Shopper Is Wearing On A City Break

You know the feeling you get when you put your out-of-office message on, that alchemical mix of excitement and adventure? That’s kind of how I felt when I saw the pieces on my Wish List this week. Now, truth be told, I am more of a city weekender than a beachy fortnighter. I can never find a paperback long enough and sand always gets into the most inopportune of places. With a trip to Vienna coming up soon, however, I’ll be taking these five items with me.

The Watch

It has been said that time waits for no one. However, a timepiece this exceptional would definitely make the inevitable long wait at the airport considerably more bearable. One glance at the navy dial and I am instantly transported to the blue Danube, where I’ll be enjoying a well-deserved aperitif.

The suit

With air-conditioning on planes often set at Arctic temperatures, it’s always a good idea to travel in a blazer. It will also ensure that you arrive at the Hotel Imperial looking impeccable. First impressions count, after all. Also, if it’s hot outside you can always ditch the jacket and wear the trousers with your favourite T-shirt. This is my take on suiting in a city renowned for its mix of tradition and innovation.

The Shirt

This Incotex button-down shirt is one cool customer. It is crafted from pure cotton but has the look and feel of linen. It will keep you fresh, but won’t crease, and works perfectly with chinos and smarter trousers. Just mind the crumbs from your sachertorte at the Café Central.

The Loafers

These Edward Green Piccadilly loafers are the ultimate travel shoes. The neutral colour will safely go with practically everything in your luggage. They’re perfect for sightseeing during the day but smart enough to waltz your evening away before you enjoy a night cap at the Loos American Bar.
