Mr Mike Amiri started off customising jeans and hand-making on-stage outfits for icons such as Messrs Axl Rose and Steven Tyler back in 2014. Self expression and the rock ’n’ roll influences that defined his youth have been two of AMIRI’s main fil rouges since its inception. “Clothing expresses who you are without you having to say a word,” Amiri once told us. “People connect to clothes that reflect them. Musicians, rock stars, athletes, they have a certain conviction about themselves and who they feel they are, a certain confidence and cool.”
A nature-filled dreamscape is not exactly what you’d expect from the LA-based brand, yet the fluid silhouettes, silky fabrics and light colours of its SS22 line-up never lost sight of its grungy, musical heritage. Craving escapism? Here are five items that’ll transport you to Mr Mike Amiri’s world.

The printed bomber
AMIRI’s bomber is the kind of staple that’s great for everyday wear, but will make an impression at an after-hours gathering, too. Fittingly for the party theme, it’s printed with a mash-up of palm tree and paisley motifs that take cues from vintage rum labels. It pays homage to the Arts District, an industrial area in Downtown LA that’s been home to artist studios since the 1970s.

The distressed hoodie
This hoodie is a prime example of AMIRI’s deconstruction and fabric distressing expertise. Faded for a vintage effect, it’s lightly distressed at the seams and appliquéd with bandana flames along the sleeves. The acronym for “The Great City Workshop” – an homage to the location of the brand’s LA base – is embroidered across the back.
