L’Épée 1839's limited-edition 'Time Fast D8' table clock will likely evoke childhood memories, as the movement hand-winds to the rear just like a pull-back car. But in terms of complexity, it's actually more akin to the engineering of '50s Formula 1 racing motors - featuring aluminium bodywork just like the real deal, it's crafted from nickel- and palladium-plated brass, with a skeletonised cage and glass dome exposing the 289-piece movement. The time-keeping element is wittily placed to the side of the chassis like a racing number, while a dome - or driver's helmet, if you so wish - showcases the escapement.
