THE JOURNAL

If your New Year’s resolutions are testing your strength, these items should help keep you on the straight and narrow.
We’re almost a week into January, which represents the first semi-significant milestone of your New Year’s resolutions. Whatever solemn vows you made in late December – doing Dry January, taking up a sport – they’re not going to be easy to stick to. But that’s the whole point of setting resolutions. It’s a sort of self-flagellation method for all the fun you had over the festive period. Let’s face it, you’re probably going to break them soon – but in the meantime, here are some products new on MR PORTER today to help you with whatever challenges you decided to set yourself.
DO DRY JANUARY
This may be the cruellest of all the resolutions, but it is also the most common. You know what to do: don’t drink any of the demon booze until 1 February. Not so hard, is it? Except, it is. Once your Christmas hangover has worn off (that’ll be around about now) the idea of the hard stuff becomes incredibly appealing again. So if you’re thinking of having a drink, take your mind off it by staying dry in January in another sense with this rather excellent hooded Mackintosh. Cheers.
EAT MORE HEALTHILY
This is another popular resolution that you may well seek to stick to throughout the year, but is somewhat less measurable than Dry January. Apart from the obvious (kale, yes; thrice-fried chips, no) there are no hard and fast rules as to what you should and shouldn’t eat as part of an objectively healthy diet. But you can’t really go wrong with fortifying whatever diet you choose with these supplements, which contain “a curated balance of nutrients to optimise your wellbeing”.
TAKE UP A NEW SPORT
Although this lightweight mesh T-shirt has the word “running” in its name, it is not going to disintegrate or explode if you, for example, play badminton in it. It’s entirely up to you. We are not here to make the rules. But what we can say is that, whatever active pursuit you’ve decided to take on in 2017, it will help you will stay cool and dry thanks to Nike’s Dri-FIT technology. And you’ll look the part, too.
