Those attuned to such things will know that the men’s shows drew to a close last week. With it, came “the trends”. That’s both the runway kind, foretelling what we’ll be wearing this time next year, and those rolling out in real-time on the streets, showcased by the meticulously dressed individuals who attend the shows. While it presents an opportunity for fashion industry insiders to show off some of their finest fits – Florence’s bi-annual Pitti Uomo trade show has been known for plenty of peacocking – examining attendees’ outfits is a great way to get some styling inspiration to take your own look up a notch or two.

So, what’s cool now, you ask? As fashion journalist and creative director Jordan Anderson wrote in The Journal, “As the industry continues to experiment with silhouettes, codes and identities, one thing is clear: the modern man is no longer dressing to conform, he is dressing to explore.”

With that, we bring you Versace’s camp-collar, silk-twill shirt, featuring a bold “Coral Theatre” print that references Greek mythology and includes the house's iconic Medusa motif. Heading to a party in Ibiza this summer? Style it with a crewneck T-shirt, tailored cotton-linen trousers, LOEWE’s leather belt bag and sandals and you’ll be the best-dressed man in the Balearics.

If you’re revelling on home turf, swap your usual white shirt for Mr P.’s Consciously Crafted pastel-pink linen button down, layering it over a white tank top, jeans and sneakers. Or for more formal occasions, chinos and boat shoes (don’t snooze on their comeback).

And if there’s one style lesson we can take away from Milan, Pitti and Paris, it’s that sunglasses make every look at least 80 per cent cooler. Jacques Marie Mage’s aviator style are a solid choice and can be paired with everything from tailoring in the city to your holiday wardrobe.

Speaking of which, your vacation starts in the airport, so don’t let the side down in your WFH sweats. Post-pandemic, numerous brands have pulled out all the stops with their loungewear, so you can be both polished and comfortable – even on a long haul. And, with Bottega Veneta’s sleek intrecciato-style Odyssey suitcase by your side, you can’t go wrong. As for what to put in it, Casablanca’s printed tee and Loro Piana’s tailored linen shorts are both beach-club and city-break appropriate.
