The beloved Parisian brand has teamed up with effortlessly cool sportswear specialists Outdoor Voices on a new capsule collection. Here’s the key pieces you need now.

They make simple, wardrobe classics that pretty much anyone can wear. They’re based in Paris – one of the most stylish cities in the world. And their jeans have an almost cult following…

As a brand, we didn’t think A.P.C. could get any better. Until now. Because they recently invested in the New York-based technical sports brand Outdoor Voices to produce, well, a rather splendid capsule collection. And after we were given a sneak peek of this collaboration, we couldn’t help but snap it up.

So what’s all the fuss about? Outdoor Voices – seen by some as a challenger to brands such as Nike – was founded by Ms Tyler Haney, an athlete who wanted to create an active lifestyle brand that had a slightly more laidback – less performance-based – approach to athletic clothing. She studied at Parsons School of Design, so brings a knowledge of technical fabrics and an attention to detail to her pieces. Combine that with the minimalist aesthetic of A.P.C. and you get a rather pleasing mix of clean activewear and the pared-back Parisian style we know so well. Outdoor Voices’ mantra is: “To embrace activity with ease, humour, and delight” – and this jacket is a clear example of what that philosophy brings to the collaboration. The cloud-like camouflage elevates a practical outdoor jacket into something a little bit more urban and fun – which could be worn as easily for a brisk run or walk as for a trip to the pub. And if you’re feeling brave, you can also wear it with the matching shorts.

If you were looking to upgrade your running kit, this might be a good place to start, especially if you’d like to add a little bit of Gallic insouciance to your technical-wear. Given its silhouette and soft charcoal shade, this would look suitably at home in the city. But if you’re wearing it for the track, the stretch-shell material and half-zip funnel neck will ensure you’re well served against the elements. If you’re really serious about your sport, just add these compression tights and you’ll run like the wind (well, maybe – we can’t promise miracles).
