CELINE HOMME’s neo-rave Cosmic Cruiser collection was introduced to the world of fashion last year via a freestyle motocross stunt show. Replete with shirtless riders, the spectacle was filmed by drones on the Archipel des Embiez in the south of France, not far from where the brand’s creative director, Mr Hedi Slimane, lives in St Tropez. All of this can invite us to forget that the eight items we have collated here are just clothes. In a post-lockdown world, whether we’re going on holiday again or hitting a club once more, these wild and colourful pieces are more than just insulation. They remind us that it’s time to let loose and have fun again. A new summer of love? Here are eight ways to find romantic hedonism.

01.

The leather blouson jacket

For those asking, “Hey Hedi, what are you rebelling against?” here is a jacket that says, “Whadda you got?” It’s a buttery-soft black leather blouson with the brand’s name emblazoned in crystals on the back. OK, on that mark, it’s probably more Danny Zuko than Johnny Strabler. Summer of love or summer lovin’? It’s certainly the one that we want.

02.

The camo logo T-shirt

Why be shy when the sun is on its way and it’s time to let loose? Camouflage meets exclamation here to create a powerful and really rather fun T-shirt. See you down the front.

03.

The embellished shirt

CELINE HOMME’s loose-fit palm tree-print shirt was inspired by an effortlessly cool 1990s Californian style. Its dark tones capture Slimane’s grunge aesthetic, while its black to burnt orange dégradé with the sequin-embellished palm trees imitate a West Coast sunset.

04.

The sequined shorts

What do rockstars wear on their summer holiday? CELINE HOMME has the answer. These wide-leg, tulle drawstring shorts are stitched with metallic threads and embellished with sequins. They’ll keep you looking glam while you’re strolling along the promenade.

05.

The logo sandals

There is not a whole lot that we need to say about these sandals to highlight their merits. You’re either into them or you’re not. In the spirit of this collection, and our gung-ho approach to summer, all we’re saying is: step to it (and don’t be a stick in the mud).

06.

The cut-off shorts

CELINE HOMME’s straight-leg denim shorts are named Kurt. Because they’re distressed? Perhaps. More than likely, it’s because they’re tapping in to that early-1990s grunge vibe. We can’t quite believe it’s come around again so quickly. The Japanese-made cotton shorts are as classic as they come: five pockets, button fly and time-honoured contrast stitching.

07.

The printed shirt

Channelling an energetic mood, this bright camp-collar shirt seems ready-made for summer, thanks to its colourful tie-dye effect, relaxed silhouette and aptly phrased “Heavenly Days” slogan. It’s cut from a lightweight voile fabric, which gives it an airy, breathable feel that’s ideal for when the temperature rises.

08.

The statement sunglasses

Sunglasses are great for going incognito, but there is no way you will pass unnoticed wearing these. As far as statement sunnies go, these hit the nail on the head with exaggerated proportions, mirrored lenses and subtle branding on the temples.
