MR PORTER partners with Cartier on their new range of sunglasses – sure to see you through from dusk until dawn .
Whether you find yourself under the stars in Miami or hanging out with the stars in Manhattan, a good night out is characterised by spontaneity. An open mind (and a bottle of champagne – or three) are sure to kick off proceedings, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t come prepared. This is something Parisian brand Cartier knows all too well, having created its Santos de Cartier sunglasses range with a spirit of travel in mind. Inspired by trailblazing aviator Mr Alberto Santos-Dumont, for whom the first Cartier Santos-Dumont watch was crafted in 1904, the Cariter de Santos collection features updates on the traditional aviator silhouette, hand-finished by French artisans to ensure they are as sturdy as they are stylish – all of which makes them ideal for seeing you through from dusk until dawn.

For nocturnal outings, we recommend the rectangular frames – the distinctive design will distinguish you at the beach bar for sundowners, and act as the perfect distraction from your weary eyes come the morning after. With their brushed champagne finish and intricate detailing – including the brand’s iconic screw fittings – these shades have the added bonus of lending that certain Gallic je ne sais quoi to your outfit.
You’ll need to look the part in order to properly rise to the occasion (and meet varying dress codes), so a blazer is essential – but add edge by opting for an example in textured grey, rather than black. Pair it with some slim-fit black trousers and a jet-black tee to keep things sharp and sleek. Finally, some tasselled loafers will ground the look and take you wherever the night may lead you.
