Six Shearling Jackets To Fight The Chill

13 January 2023

In the midst of a seemingly never-ending January, many of us may be wondering how we can get dressed while still feeling like we’re in bed. The padded, sleeping bag-esque floofiness of a down jacket is a common go-to, but a sartorially sharp alternative is the rugged shearling jacket. Less feather duvet and more fireside romp, the cosiness of shearling in unbeatable. What’s more, whether it’s a classic bomber silhouette giving masculine aviator vibes or an embroidered long-line coat for a 1970s look, ultra-warm and hardwearing shearling has a way of making anyone look like a film star. Maybe it’s the mixture of old school charm and practical wearability (that woolly bulk makes it a perfect structured top layer) or maybe it’s just Mr Tom Cruise in Top Gun. Whichever it is, we’re happy to go with it.

01.

The classic Mr P. flight jacket

A classic shearling flight jacket is a timeless staple of any wardrobe, so it’s obvious that we couldn’t go without one for our in-house label’s latest collection. The supple shearling, enhanced with a creamy white trim, is designed to weather over time, creating an item unique to its wearer with its own personal patina.

02.

The RRL Western panelled jacket

RRL is Ralph Lauren’s Wild West-inspired offshoot, named after the eponymous designer’s ranch in Colorado. This suede creation is a lighter shearling option for the days leading into spring, combining the short, boxy style of a chore jacket with classic Americana details, such as the buckled back and donut buttons.

03.

The retro CELINE HOMME coat

If you’re looking for something a bit different for your shearling, this CELINE HOMME embroidered coat may be the one. The whimsical, folk-inspired detailing gives this a definite hippy vibe, but pair with jeans and boots, and you’re heading towards a 1990s indie look. One thing’s for sure, the additional length and extra thick shearling will keep you toasty whichever way you style it.

04.

The Yves Salomon sleek suede jacket

With more than 100 years of history in the trade, French brand Yves Salomon knows its stuff. That’s why we trust its craftsmanship implicitly – craftsmanship that is on show in this beautifully made navy suede shearling jacket. The matching lining and collar make it a sleek alternative to the classics, suitable for dressing down eveningwear this party season.

05.

The cashmere-trimmed Brunello Cucinelli jacket

It wouldn’t be Brunello Cucinelli without some of its signature cashmere. Here, the Italian masters add extra luxurious touches to the shearling blouson, including ribbed cashmere collar and cuffs, a butter-soft, caramel-coloured suede with delicate chevron detailing and a silky shearling collar and lining.

06.

The off-duty Mr P. blouson

Another offering from Mr P., this moss-green blouson is a more casual silhouette, crafted from a super soft suede, making it super wearable and easy to dress up or down. Don’t be worried about keeping your suede in tip-top condition after multiple wears – each Mr P. item comes with tailor-made care and styling tips.
