THE JOURNAL

A while ago – when the hazy, lazy days of summer were in full swing – we reported on everyone’s current obsession with tie-dye. In that piece of serious investigative journalism, we recalled how a certain MR PORTER colleague of ours had arrived at the office bright and early on a Monday morn and, within moments of sitting down at his desk, announced with infectious glee, “Thank God, they’ve done tie-dye boxers”.
Needless to say, we were very excited by this development. Our collective happiness would prove to be short-lived, however. As was to be expected, the boxers in question – a navy, blue and white pair from Japanese brand Anonymous Ism – sold out at a considerable speed. Quite understandably, we (or at least the boxer-short-wearing portion of the office) were rather upset about missing out. Until today, that is.
Today, the brand has gifted us with two new pairs, this time in a soothing sky blue and candy-coloured pink-purple mix, respectively. A tie dye T-shirt, naturally, is more sartorially suited to the warmer months, and it became the unofficial uniform of LA’s scumbro contingent this summer, but tie-dye boxers? They can be worn under our many layers of staid wintery clothing to brighten up even the greyest of days, with no one the wiser to what lies beneath. Colour us happy. Until they’ve inevitably sold out again, of course…
