THE JOURNAL

Here is our roundup of the actor’s slickest sartorial moments.
As rising star Mr Miles Teller (of Whiplash and War Dogs fame) reveals in his in-depth interview in this week’s edition of The Journal, he’s not terribly keen on the media picking apart his appearance. (Ahem: “that shit nauseates me”.) But we’re fairly hopeful that the following article will have no such adverse effect upon his delicate digestive system, given that it’s entirely laudatory in both conception and execution. Yes, Mr Teller is a man of many outfits, mostly successful, and in honour of his debut appearance on MR PORTER, we thought it only right that we celebrate them. Here goes nothing:
THE STATEMENT SUIT

It takes a lot of guts to pull off a suit in a non-standard colour, but Mr Teller looked perfectly comfortable in the one he wore to appear on Late Night with Seth Meyers at the end of last year. In fact, he chose particularly wisely here: though the suit itself is a burgundy/brown colour, its sheeny finish makes the effect a little subtler, and is especially pleasing against the crisp, matte surface of Mr Teller’s white shirt. The open collar and lack of tie stops it all from getting too heavy and makes the whole ensemble feel more youthful.
THE DOUBLE-BREASTED JACKET

Mr Teller fully lived up to the name of his Fantastic Four screen persona, Mr Fantastic, at the film’s premiere in 2015, showing us all how a younger man can look perfectly dapper in a suit of the double-breasted variety. This look’s success is thanks to a few key factors: the slim cut of the blazer and trousers; the way in which the shirt’s wide collar tucks neatly underneath the lapels; and the tiniest sliver of a pocket square that’s seen poking out of Mr Teller’s breast pocket. But, of course, his facial expression – a wry, amused-but-not-too-impressed smirk – also adds to general impression of suaveness.
THE TUXEDO

At this year’s Met Gala, Mr Teller hit upon the perfect party accessories: a pair of beautiful and talented women, in the form of Ms Zoë Kravitz and precocious pop sensation Lorde. But block these two out of your mind for a moment and you will also find much to appreciate about his tuxedo – rendered in a cool midnight blue fabric with a slightly shiny finish to it. Worn with a simple black bow tie, it looks effortlessly sharp, and Mr Teller looks exceptionally comfortable wearing it.
