Meet the Viking in the velvet suit.
You may not have heard of Mr Ludwig Göransson, but you will almost certainly have heard his music. He is one of the biggest and most prolific composers working in Hollywood at the moment. His glittering CV includes co-producing projects with Mr Donald Glover and scoring the music for everything from the Rocky franchise’s Creed II to Black Panther. In an article late last year, Complex called Mr Göransson “2018’s ultimate secret weapon”, but compared with the acts he works with, the Swedish composer remains relatively unknown.
It transpires that, as well as being a talented music maker, the man also knows how to dress. His look is slightly inspired by the 1970s, rests on the right side of rakish and incorporates velvet blazers, paisley shirts, vibrant tailoring and sneakers. He’s also a clear fan of Dries Van Noten and Ann Demeulemeester (see the green velvet suit he wore to the 2018 Grammys). At first glance, Mr Göransson’s long hair and penchant for pastel suits could peg him as Mr Jared Leto-lite, but his style is his wholly individual.

For this year’s Grammys, he wore a white suit with a red Louis Vuitton poppy shirt, gold chains and black suede Chelsea boots. It was ever so slightly Bee Gees, but, hey, somehow, he made it work. The formula of floral shirt, statement tailoring, sneakers and jewellery seems to be his thing and, as far as red-carpet dressing goes, he’s definitely making it work. All hail the Viking in the velvet suit.
