Why your face cream should have a hint of colour.
Tinted moisturiser, hmm? Sounds a bit like make-up that’s trying to sound like it isn’t make-up. A cosmetic paradox of coverage trying to cover itself up, if you will. Don’t worry, though. If you can bear to remove the fragile tape from your box of masculinity, you’ll find that a discreet tube of tinted moisturiser – especially now the sun has disappeared in London – is one of the most erudite additions a man can make to his grooming routine. The goal here isn’t to transform your face into something different (unless you are auditioning for the next season of RuPaul’s Drag Race), but to improve upon what’s already there.
You should be wearing a tinted moisturiser for much the same reason(s) you should be wearing a non-tinted moisturiser, but with the added benefit that a tinted iteration contains pigment that will improve your skin tone and bring your complexion up a notch. All tinted moisturisers aren’t made equal, however, and you’ll want to go for a top-quality product that will be undetectable. A reliable choice is Perricone MD Face Finishing Moisturizer Tint. It has the consistency and colour of strawberry mousse and contains pigment capsules that gradually release upon application to smooth out skin tone. Its coverage isn’t strong enough to mask blemishes, but it is undetectable, has an SPF30 and will result in skin that appears instantly healthier and clearer. Plus, it also boosts collagen, minimises fine lines and wrinkles, and will give your skin the nutrients it needs to look at its peak.
Another trustworthy go-to is Lab Series BB Tinted Moisturizer. A time-saving marvel, it adapts to any skin tone and works as an anti-ageing moisturiser that will immediately and markedly improve the tone and texture of skin. Plus it’s SPF35, and you should make the effort to wear SPF all year round lest your face resemble a Sun-Maid raisin by the time you reach middle age.
