Where better than the Floating City to debut the latest collection from our exclusive brand – available only on MR PORTER .

Venice is a city that has long held our imaginations in thrall. To cruise along its grand waterways or lose yourself in its maze of backstreets and bridges is to follow in the footsteps of generations of visitors. The elegantly decayed marble palazzi date back to a time when the city was a flourishing trade post for eastern spices and silks and would attract sea merchants from all over Europe. In the 17th and 18th centuries, it became a vital stop on the Grand Tour, an artistic pilgrimage through France, the Alps and Italy that was considered a rite of passage for young aristocratic men. More recently, it has developed into an important cultural hub, attracting a global audience of thousands to its Art Biennale and Venice Film Festival. It’s a city that never ceases to reinvent itself, even as it slowly subsides into the lagoon on which it was built.

From the Palazzo Papadopoli, a 16th-century marble palace on the Grand Canal that now houses the Aman Venice, we set out to explore this beautiful old city and try out the latest collection from Kingsman. Launched in 2014 to coincide with Mr Matthew Vaughn’s spy movie of the same name, MR PORTER’s exclusive brand brings together some of the most illustrious names in menswear under one roof, from Turnbull & Asser shirts and Drake’s ties to George Cleverley shoes and eyewear from Cutler And Gross. Elegant and timeless, and now with a new range of lightweight summer suits in cotton and linen, it’s the perfect wardrobe to wear while getting lost in Venice.
